| Review Summary and Plot Commentary about Girl On The Bridge |
GIRL ON THE BRIDGE (La Fille sur le Pont) is a French movie directed by Patrice Leconte in 1999. Daniel Auteuil earned in 2000 the French Academy award in the Best Actor category for this movie.
Adèle is on the verge of committing suicide from a bridge when Gabor, a knife thrower, arrives and tries to dissuade her from jumping. Gabor saves her life. Gabor offers her a job as the moving target. Soon, their act becomes widely known and they perform in the casinos of France, Monte-Carlo and Italy.
But Adèle goes on searching for the Prince Charming and sleeps with any good-looking man coming close to her while Gabor is little-by-little falling in love with her. Although she has also told Gabor she's attracted by him, she will finally abandon her partner when she meets a wealthy young Greek who attended their show. But their separation is also the end of the exceptional period of luck both have lived for a few weeks; Adèle is soon abandoned in a Greek island and Gabor, after having injured his new partner with a knife, is living like a hobo in Istanbul, Turkey.
