| Review Summary and Plot Commentary about The Russia House |
Based on a novel by John Le Carré, THE RUSSIA HOUSE is a film directed by the Australian director Fred Schepisi in 1990.
An idealistic Russian physicist gives a manuscript describing the exact military condition of the Russian armed forces to the British publisher Scott Blair. Unfortunately, the manuscript is intercepted by the British Intelligence who asks Blair to go to Moscow and find out the identity of this physicist. There, Blair meets Katya Orlova, the only friend of the physicist, who tells him that the author of the manuscript is Yakov, one of the most important Russian scientists. The British and the C.I.A. who are following every move of Blair wants him to persuade Yakov to give more information. Yakov is sure that the western states will stop the arms race if they're aware of the poor condition of the Russian forces.
