Review Summary and Plot Commentary about Convoy
Directed by Sam Peckinpah, Convoy stars Kris Kristofferson as truck driverMartin "Rubber Duck" Penwald. While driving through Texas with other truckers Pig Pen/Love Machine (Burt Young) and Spider Mike (FranklynAjaye), Penwald runs into Sheriff Lyle "Cottonmouth" Wallace. Wallace uses
his power to extort money from them for no other reason than he has never liked Penwald. Reluctantly, they all chip in and pay Wallace what he wanted and take off making fun of Wallace on the CB radio. They stop at a roadside
diner to get some food and Penwald sees Mellissa (Ali MacGraw), the woman who taking pictures of him while he was driving earlier. Spider Mike and Love Machine get on the CB and start messing around with Wallace who just
drove into the parking lot. Wallace eventually makes his way in and wants to arrest Spider Mike on trumped up charges. A huge fight ensues and Penwald and the rest of the crew take off. Wallace chases after them getting the state and local police to follow after them. As Spider Mike,
Love Machine and Penwald discuss what to do over their CB's, other truckers relate to their cause and join up with them. This eventually leads to a mile long truck convoy that goes through Arizona into New Mexico.Eventually, Wallace gets the national guard involved and sets up a big roadblock which leads to a big showdown between Wallace and Penwald.
