| Review Summary and Plot Commentary about Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle |
Harold is a Korean-American investment banker in his 20s who doesn't have the guts to ask his sexy Hispanic neighbor Maria out. Kumar is an Indian-American (not American Indian) who is avoiding going to medical school for fear of being a stereotype. The two roommates are best friends. One night they want those delicious little White Castle burgers. What starts out to be a drive to the only White Castle location in the area turns into an all-out quest to fulfill their craving after they run into numerous and ludicrous obstacles, including a roving group of racists, a car accident, an escaped cheetah, and a coked-up Neil Patrick Harris.

Harold (Cho) and Kumar (Penn) are successful young men, just out of college, but neither is satisfied with their lives. After smoking some dope one night they decide to go to White Castle for a meal but the trip there is not easy.
At a toll booth they have no change and decide to run through but get nervous and take the next exit to avoid arrest. Once off the highway they get lost and Harold is attacked by a wild raccoon that gets in the car when they stop to pee. They then stop to pick up a hitchhiker (maybe he has directions) who turns out to be Neil Patrick Harris and he's looking for a good time. When they stop for gas NPH (as he is called) steals their car. Harold is arrested for jaywalking and Kumar plans a daring escape. The pair then run from the law and make their way at all cost to White Castle for their food.
