| Review Summary and Plot Commentary about 'Merci la Vie' |
'MERCI LA VIE' (Thank You, Life) is a French movie written and directed by Bertrand Blier in 1990. It earned seven nominations for the 1991 French Academy awards but only Jean Carmet won the César award in the Best Supporting Actor category.
Camille (Gainsbourg) makes the acquaintance of Joëlle (Grinberg) while preparing for her final exams on the Atlantic French coast. Joëlle is an easy girl who is not lucky with the men she encounters: she always gets molested. Both girls decide to hit the road and seduce all the men who will cross their path. We soon understand that Joëlle is suffering from a deadly sexual disease she will spread throughout the country.
