| Review Summary and Plot Commentary about Turning Gate |
TURNING GATE (Saenghwalui balgyeon) is a Korean movie written and directed by Sang-soo Hong in 2001.
Kim Yung-soo has just learned that he hasn't be chosen as the lead actor of his usual director's next movie so, when his old friend Sung-woo invites him to meet him in the city of Chuncheon, he accepts the offer. Yung-soo makes the acquaintance of Myung-suk, a young dancer, who tells him she always wanted to know him. After a few days of wild sex, Yung-soo gets tired of this young girl who harrasses him with her exclusive love.
Yung-soo decides to go to his hometown Pusan but he meets Sun-young, a young girl he falls immediately in love in. So he gets out of the train behind her, follows her and decides to stay a while in this city. He will manage to meet her again and seduce her. But Sun-Young is already married to a professor and we soon understand that she considers Yung-soo as a casual sex partner and won't leave her husband for him. This time, the situation is reversed.
