| Review Summary and Plot Commentary about National Treasure |
Benjamin Franklin Gates (Nicolas Cage) has spent his entire life attempting to find a treasure to be all treasures: a treasure hiden by America's founding father's during the American Revolution. With the help of his friend Riley Poole (Justin Bartha) and the funding of Ian Howe (Sean Bean), Gates travels to arctic to find a ship trapped in the ice that reveals that the map to the treasure is located on the back of one of America's most sacred documents: the Declaration of Independence.
But Howe turns out to be a mobster only intrested in the money from the treasure and attempts to have Gates and Poole killed. Gates and Poole escape and after a failed attempt to warn the FBI of Howe's plan, Gates has no choice but to do the unthinkable: steal the Declaration of Independence.
Gates steals the Declaration of Independence and saves archivist Abigail Chase (Diane Kruger) from Howe and his men. Together, Gates, Chase, and Poole travel to Philadelphia where with the help of gates father Patrick (Jon Voight) uncover another clue in Independence hall. But Gates is captured by an FBI agent (Harvey Keitel) and is set up to meet Howe in New York City.
But Gates escapes and with the lives of his father, Chase, and Poole on the line, is forced to lead Howe underneath New York City to the treasure collection.
