Cory parker stars as Marlon Browne, a high school senior in love with Class President and most popular girl in school, Jessica Kailo (Lara Flynn Boyle). Marlon loves Jessica but she wont give him the time of day so Marlon comes up with a plan to go to the same college as Jessica. He hope this will be his way to have her fall in love with him. His only obstacle -- bad SAT scores. But it's Marlons lucky day as he meets recruiter Kip Hammet (Anthony Edwards) from Ramsey College, the same college Jessica wants to attend at a college fair. Jessica meets the same recruiter and fends off her father's desire for her to go to the University of Michigan. In his desire to improve his SAT's Marlon goes to a class run by Francine Bauer (Nora Dunn) and Benedict (Phil Hartman). They coach him on his test but he only improves slightly. Both Jessica and Marlon go to Ramsey for interviews but during Jessica's interview she realizes she is nothing special and wants to quit. Marlon eventually convinces her not to and they rush back to Ramsey in time to get Jessica's application in.
