| Review Summary and Plot Commentary about A Tale of Two Sisters |
A TALE OF TWO SISTERS (Janghwa, Hongryeon) is a Korean movie written and directed by Ji-woon Kim in 2003. This film earned the Grand Prize of three major European and American Film Festivals (Gerardmer, Fantasporto and the Los Angeles Screamfest) in 2003 and 2004.
Bae Soo-mi and her sister Bae Soo-yeon come back home after having spent some time in a mental institution after their mother's death. They have to deal now with their stepmother the young girls seem to hate for an unknown reason. After their arrival, strange things begin to happen in the house: someone is entering the girls's rooms at night and frightens them, a ghost appears successively to the stepmother and to the young girls and, the strangest of all, the father of the girls doesn't notice anything.
