| Review Summary and Plot Commentary about Scorcher |
Scientists discover that the Chinese government had secretly detonated nuclear warheads underground. The explosions caused fissures in the land around the pacific rim, causing a release of explosive gas from the earth's core that is increasing the greenhouse effect. It also caused a shift in the earth's tectonic plates. The only way to stop them from shifting is by setting off nuclear explosions in Los Angeles. President Nelson (Rutger Hauer) sends Colonel Ryan Beckett (Mark Dascascos) and his team to deliver and set the nuclear devices in Los Angeles. Along the way Beckett and his team deal with terorrists, Special Agent Kellaway disrupting the activation of the devices, and Beckett getting a message from his daughter that she needs help. Beckett fights his way over all these obstacles to accomplish his task.
