| Review Summary and Plot Commentary about Be Cool |
Chili Palmer is a cool, smooth talking movie producer; his partner is killed in front of him during a lunch meeting. So Chili decides to get out of the movie business and is introduced to a young, female, singing sensation named Linda.
Linda's manager has a bad attitude and a big, but gay, singing bodyguard. The bodyguard threatens Chili but Chili offers him a music contract and the bodyguard accepts.
Meanwhile, Edie (Chili's dead partner's wife) is in trouble with a local gang. The gang threatens to destroy her business if she doesn't repay debts that her dead husband owes. Chili is attracted to Edie, so to protect her, he makes a deal with the gang: he will turn Linda into a superstar and share the profits with the gang. Chili gets Linda a gig singing with Aerosmith and the gang backs off. But Linda's old manager wants her back: he chases down Chili and Edie and tries to kill them.
