| Review Summary and Plot Commentary about License to Drive |
Les Anderson (Corey Haim) is about to take a driver's exam.
Les fails the test after getting five questions wrong, but that does not stop him from getting behind the wheel. He tells his family and friends that he passed his test and is ready for a night out on the town. But before he leaves, his mom finds the test results in his jeans while doing laundry and prevents him from leaving the house.
To impress Mercedes (Heather Graham) the popular girl at school, Les sneaks out and picks her up in his grandfather's Cadillac.
During the night, Les meets up with his friends, Mercedes passes out drunk and the group gets in a bad situation when a drunk steals the car from them.
While this is happening, Anderson's mother awakes and must be taken to the hospital because she is in labor.
Les tries to bring the car home in one piece before any of his family members can catch on.
