| Review Summary and Plot Commentary about House of Bamboo |
HOUSE OF BAMBOO is a movie co-written and directed by Samuel Fuller in 1955.
The setting is Tokyo, Japan. An American soldier is killed during a train robbery so the U.S. army sends Sgt. Eddie Keener (Stack) to Tokyo in order to help the American and the Japanese police to solve the case. Keener becomes Eddie Spanier, a man with a bad guy history in the U.S., and manages to infiltrate Sandy Dawson's organisation.
Since the end of WWII, Dawson (Ryan), with the help of soldiers expelled from the army, is organizing yielding robberies in Tokyo. Spanier takes part in his first armed robbery for Keener and is wounded. Instead of finishing him, as he should have done according to the gang's violent code, Keener saves Spanier's life.
As Keener's next outline is to rob an agency of the bank of Tokyo, Spanier discreetly informs the police about Keener's intention and waits for the right moment to arrest him.
