Review Summary and Plot Commentary about Tigerland
A group of army recruits, some volunteered and some drafted, struggle through basic training.
One of the drafted men, who doesn't want to be there, is a wise-cracking troublemaker. He's befriended by a guy that volunteered to be there, to write about the experience in the future.

The drafted man's attitude continuously gets him and his unit in trouble. He claims only to care about himself, but after learning more about his cohorts he softens a little. He helps one kid circumvent the rules to get discharged to return to his wife and kids. He then helps another man who breaks down find a loophole to get dismissed.

The volunteer is finding that he doeson't want to be there as much as he'd thought.   After there last week at a training camp called tigerland, the drafted man injures the volunteer to get him discharged due to injury. The drafted man shipped out the next day and the volunteer never saw him again. Some said that he was killed, some said that he just disappeared, and one friend said he saw him in Mexico, where he always dreamed of going, with a beautiful girl.
