| Review Summary and Plot Commentary about Lucia, Lucia |
Based on the novel by Rosa Montero, Lucia,Lucia stars Cecilia Roth as Lucia, a writer with a wild imagination. The movie starts out with Lucia and her husband Roman going on vacation but Roman goes missing at the airport. That night her seventy-year-old neighbor Felix (Carlos Alvarez-Novoa) comes by to console her and Lucia gets a phone call telling her that Ramon has been kidnapped and they want a twenty-million peso ransom. Lucia then gets a letter from Ramon stating that there was an inheritance from an aunt and that she should go to the bank and pick up the money. She goes with Felix to the bank where she picks up a big bag full of money. On the way home they get into a confrontation and this is when neighbor Adrian, a young musician comes into the picture. Felix, Adrian, and Lucia all bond over the next couple days like kids at a summer camp. Without much help from the police or government, all three set out on a mission to find out the truth about Roman, with Lucia finding brief love in Adrian, true friendship in Felix and lost love when she ultimately finds Roman.
