| Review Summary and Plot Commentary about Number Seventeen |
NUMBER SEVENTEEN is a British movie, based on a stage play, directed by Alfred Hitchcock in 1932.
Four thieves, a policeman, a bum and an innocent girl meet one night in an empty house. One soon understands that the thieves are here to collect a jewel a fifth thief is about to bring into the house and that the policeman stays incognito in order to arrest them. As they don't know each other, the arrival of the crook with the jewel will create several quiproquos before the bad guys leave the house and take the train to the Channel.
The second half of the movie describes a cat and mouse chase between the thieves aboard a train without conductor nor mecanichal engineer and the policeman who follows the train in a bus at top speed.
