| Review Summary and Plot Commentary about Don Juan DeMarco |
A costumed man arrives in New York looking for his lost love, claiming to be Don Juan DeMarco (Depp). When Don Juan cannot find her, he attempts suicide, but is talked down by a psychiatrist (Brando) having problems in his own marriage. Convinced that Don Juan is not who he says he is, Dr. Mickler brings him to the psychiatric hospital to uncover his identity. For ten days, Dr. Mickler listens to Don Juan's life story without putting the boy on medication. Other doctors want to commit Don Juan to the hospital after the ten days, but as the days pass, Dr. Mickler finds himself seeing the reality in Don Juan's romantic imagination.
