| Review Summary and Plot Commentary about Strange Illusion |
Jimmy Lydon stars as Paul Cartwright, a hardworking, hyperintelligent student. He has a strange dream while on a fishing trip that his mother will marry a dangerous man. Paul then gets a letter from his deceased father's estate and this makes him think even more that it was a premonition that could come true so he rushes home to check things out. It's there that he finds out that his mother is in a relationship with Brett Curtis (Warren William). Paul makes nice while meeting Brett but still has his suspicions. We soon see Brett for what he is, a con artist scheming with one Prof. Muhlbach to marry Virginia Cartwright but neither Paul or Virginia know for sure. At a dinner party to announce her engagement, Paul blacks out when Muhlbach says something from his dream. Under the guise that he is going to help Paul, Muhlbach convinces him that he needs to stay at his facility because he needs to relax. It's here that Muhlbach and Curtis's plan falls apart as Paul finds evidence of his fathers murder and this not only confirms his suspicions but convinces the police to set into action.
