Review Summary and Plot Commentary about Going Greek
This is another movie about college dorms and fraternities, but it has a little bit of a twist. Gil wants to get into this particular fraternity. He's sure he is a shoe-in because his dad belonged to the fraternity. He and his cousin Jake go the "rush" where the fraternities look over potential candidates. Jake really has no interest in frat houses, but goes along to make his cousin happy. So naturally Jake, who doesn't want it gets picked. Gil is picked too. They and the rest of their fellow candidates are then submitted to a number of humiliating tests to prove themselves worthy of becoming members of the fraternity. The twist is that Gil has only been allowed in because the frat needs Jake, an ex-football quarterback, to help them beat a rival fraternity, with their frat house on the line. Jake puts up with the fraternity pranks because he doesn't want his cousin to be disappointed. The brothers are especially cruel to Gil because they think he is a geek, when actually he is better than any of them. Ultimately the cousins will get their revenge.
