| Review Summary and Plot Commentary about The King's Thief |
The evil Duke of Brampton (David Niven) is making money by accusing innocent people of treason and taking all their property after they are executed. Not only that, he is also plotting to overthrow the king (George Sanders). However, the duke is not very smart: he writes down his wicked deeds and plans in a notebook, and lets the notebook out of his hands. Michael Dermott (Edmund Purdom), a woodland bandit, finds it and for some reason decides to be a good guy and protect the king. He shares the adventure with the beautiful Lady Mary (Ann Blyth), whose father was one of those wrongly executed. After much danger, sword fighting, and a suspenseful escape from the Newgate prison the gang of thieves defeats the evil duke and saves the king.
