| Review Summary and Plot Commentary about Roberto Succo |
ROBERTO SUCCO is a French movie written and directed by Cédric Kahn in 2001.
The film depicts, in a nearly clinical manner and from both the points of view of the criminal and the French police forces, Succos' bloody journey through France, Switzerland and Italy in 1987 and 1988.
After having coldly murdered his parents in 1981, Roberto Succo was interned in an Italian mental hospital. Five years later, he escapes and goes to France. There, he seduces Léa, a 16 years old girl, he will regularly go out with between two criminal acts. Léa will be unaware of Succo's real status until the very end of his journey.
For two years, Roberto Succo will burglarize houses, rape women and kill anyone threatening him. The French police will spend months before understanding that one and only person is responsible for the different unsolved murders happening during this period. As Succo is a psychopath, he kills without coherent motives and the police can't anticipate his next move. When he is finally arrested in Italy, in front of his parents's house, Roberto Succo will have killed six innocent people.
