| Review Summary and Plot Commentary about Late Marriage |
Zaza, a handsome, 30-something grad student, is in love with Judith, a beautiful divorcee, but realizes his family will never accept her. Thus, he keeps his liaison with Judith under wraps. Zaza's parents, meanwhile, are pushing their son into an arranged marriage, in accordance with age-old tradition. Their one concession is that Zaza meet and approve of his handpicked bride-to-be. Thus, much of this seriocomedy involves Zaza moving back and forth between two realms. The first is Judith's apartment, where the two lovers can be together, and Zaza plays daddy to Judith's little girl. The second is a series of orchestrated meetings between Zaza and a succession of possible brides-to-be, all of them young and nubile.
Zaza realizes that he has to make up his mind to either turn his back on family expectations and marry Judith, or repress his feelings and bow to parental pressures.
