| Review Summary and Plot Commentary about The New Adventures of Pippi Longstocking |
Pippi Longstocking is an extraordinary girl. The daughter of a pirate, she was raised and schooled at sea. But a horrible storm carries off her father's ship, and Pippi find herself stranded alone with her pet horse and monkey. They live alone in her family's old home.
Soon Pippi befriends two kids Tommy and Annika, and together they have crazy, wild adventures. Pippi can lift her horse, walk on walls (thanks to some special glue), and make a fake airplane fly simply by twirling a paddle. She teaches the kids to dream and have fun.
But Pippi can't live alone forever, and she is forced into an orphanage run by the strict Miss Bannister who has no tolerance for Pippi's antics. The conformity, strictness, and boredom are hard on Pippi.
Will she ever be reuniting with her father again? And if she is, can she leave her new friends?
