| Review Summary and Plot Commentary about A Matter of Life and Death |
Squadron leader Peter Carter's plane is about to crash and he chooses to jump instead of going down in flames. The only problem is he doesn't have a parachute. Before he jumps he talks to a radio operator named June. They form a connection through each other's voices. He jumps, only he doesn't die. He finds June and they fall in love. Then, a stange Frenchman comes, telling Peter that he should have died when he jumped. They just missed picking him up. Peter wants the right to plead his case to the celestial court. Now that he and June are in love, he feels he should be granted extra time. He finds that his prosecutor is a man named Abraham Farland. Mr. Farland was killed by the British during the American Revolution, so he especially wants to stop the romance between British Peter, and June, an American. Peter has to find a good defense council as well as convince everyone on Earth that he is not crazy.
