| Review Summary and Plot Commentary about Fort Apache |
After being demoted from a general to a colonel, a soldier is sent to a fort in the middle of the desert to lead the cavalry against hostile indians. Mean and hard-nosed, he butts heads with many of the soldiers, especially a young leiutenant that's in love with his daughter.
One of the seargents is able to meet with the indian chief and propose a truce. They set up a meeting to sign the treaty papers.
However, the colonel doesn't want a treaty, he tries to arrest the indiands.
The indians refuse to go peacefully and they begin fighting.
The colonel, despite warnings from the seargent, leads his troops into a trap. The entire cavalry is promptly wiped out.
After the fighting is over, the seargent assums command of the fort. And, although he butted heads with his former colonel, he respected so much that he carried on many of his teachings.
