| Review Summary and Plot Commentary about La Carapate |
LA CARAPATE (aka Out of it) is a French comedy cowritten and directed by Gérard Oury in 1978.
The setting is France, in May 1968. Jean-Philippe Duroc (Pierre Richard), a lawyer, is visiting one of his clients, Martial Gaulard, when he's caught in a prison riot. Gaulard takes advantage of the situation and escapes while the police is convinced that Duroc has planned his client's jailbreak. Both men are soon hunted by the French police forces and they are forced to borrow a truck, a small boat and even a Rolls Royce on their way to Paris. In the French capital city, Duroc tries to meet the Général De Gaulle, the only authority who can pardon Gaulard, but Paris is on fire : students and police forces are fighting everywhere.
