| Review Summary and Plot Commentary about My Man And I |
My Man And I stars Ricardo Montalban as Chu Chu Ramirez, a Mexican immigrant happy to be an American citizen. After getting fed up with his buddies drinking and gambling, Chu Chu takes a poorly paying job working for Ansel Ames (Wendell Corey) on his farm. The deal was for $90 with room and board for thrity days work. After a hard day of pulling stumps, Chu Chu goes to a bar where he meets alcoholic Nancy (Shelley Winters), paying her $20 bar tab. Chu Chu falls in love with her almost instantly. While spending time with the dour Nancy, Chu Chu gets sexed out of his money from Ames. Chu Chu goes back to him several times to collect his money and explain that the check keeps bouncing. This forces Chu Chu to sue Ames in small claims court for the pay owed him. He wins the case but still doesn't get the money from Ames. After his last confrontation with him Ames goes back into his house and argues with his wife (Claire Trevor). He gets shot with his own gun and him and his wife conspire against Chu Chu saying he shot Ames for not getting his money. Chu Chu gets tried and convicted for this crime he did not commmit but eventually triumphs over the obstacles before him.
