Review Summary and Plot Commentary about The Flying Deuces
The boys are vacationing fish market workers from Des Moines, when Ollie (Hardy) falls head over heels in love with Georgette (Parker), the beautiful daughter of the owner of the Parisian hotel where they are staying. After his proposal is rebuffed, a despondent Ollie decides to end his life by drowning himself along with companion Stan (Laurel), in the river Seine. Ever faithful and inseparable buddies, he forces Stan be tied to the same stone and prepares to end it all for the both of them.

An escaped shark menacing the waters is a perpetual nuisance to Ollie as he prepares for their watery grave. The suicide attempt is thwarted when a gendarme named Francois (Gardner) tells them to enlist in the French Foreign Legion to forget all about his lost love. Coincidentally, Francois is married to Georgette and is an officer in the Legion. The boys have no idea what they are in for and hilarity ensues as they bungle their way through the rigors of military service.
