| Review Summary and Plot Commentary about Father and Sons |
Michel Boujenah co-wrote and directed FATHER AND SONS (Père et fils) in 2003.
Léo is the father of three sons, David, Max and Simon, he sees every six months or so and always separately because David and Max simply don't speak to each other for years now. Léo is very much affected with this family situation so the day he suffers a slight cardiac malaise, he imagines the following plan in order to bring his family together. He tells his sons that he has to undergo open-heart surgery soon, which is not true at all, and that he wants to spend a week with them in Canada before the operation. Just in case he should die in the hospital.
David and Max reluctantly accept to accompany Léo and Simon. In Canada, the atmosphere is rather tense between the two brothers during the first days but all the family members start soon to enjoy the trip. One day, Léo takes them to Mado, a woman living in a farm, who's got the reputation to be able to cure all kind of sicknesses with her magnetism. The three sons secretly hope that Mado will cure their father while Léo is ready to endure any kind of treatment provided that his family stays with him.
