Review Summary and Plot Commentary about Just Like Heaven
Elizabeth Masterson (Reese Witherspoon) has an extremely successful Doctor's career. She always thought her life was fulfilled by her job until one night.

David Abbott (Mark Ruffalo) has no ambition, he wanders aimlessly through life. His life is empty and alone until he moves into a seemingly empty apartment.

David's life is suddenly made a whole lot more confusing but more purposeful when Elizabeth appears, Elizabeth may or may not be dead but only feels alive when she is with David in her apartment. While they clash at first, they soon form an unexplained bond while they find a way to reunite Lizzie with her newly found body before a rival doctor takes her body off life support.

They seek help from Darryl (Jon Heder, Napoleon Dynamite) a new age bookseller who has a gift of sensing the dead or in Elizabeth's case the spirit of the barely alive. Their lives combine unexpectedly and trouble and comedy ensue. While the movie follows David's attempts to help Lizzie it also shows the layers of David peeling off revealing a damaged man. A man that Lizzie in turn helps to regain life and in turn to love again.

A movie about living life, finding love and learning to trust.

David (Ruffalo)is dealing with the death of his wife so he moves into a fully furnished appartment. Unknown to him when he buys it, this appartment has the spirit of Elizabeth Masterson (Witherspoon) - a doctor who lives for her job. She keeps appearing and seems to think it is her house and he is trespassing. David tries to get rid of her by asking a series of professionals to 'cleanse' his house. They don't work and she still won't go away so David and Elizabeth decide to work together to find out why she hasn't moved on if she is dead. Elizabeth doesn't seem to remember anything but gradually as they go to certain places some things come back to her. They then find out that Elizabeth is lying in her own hospital in a coma from being in a car crash. Her sister is being talked into turning off the life support machine but Elizabeth doesn't want that to happen. She needs David to find a way to steal her body and give her more time to work out what is happening.
