| Review Summary and Plot Commentary about The Rider Named Death |
In turn of the century czarist Russia, Georges (Andrei Panin) leads a terrorist death squad working for the radical Social Revolution Party. His latest assignment: assassinate Grand Duke Sergei Aleksandrovich (Vasiliy Zotov).
Together with the starry-eyed idealist Vanya (Artyom Semakin), the vicious nihilist Fyodor (R. Bershauer), and Erna (Kseniya Rappoport), a bombmaker who has fallen in love with him, Georges attempts to kill the Duke by tossing a bomb into his carriage, but fails due to a series of misfortunes.
With most of his team dead or on the run, Georges is forced to confront his feelings for Erna and for the married aristocrat Elena (Anastasya Makeyeva), even as he plots one, last, desperate attempt on the Duke's life.
