Larry Kozinski (Ted Danson)and Maria Hardy (Isabella Rossellini) have been good friends for almost of their lives. Larry had a career-oriented beautiful wife, who thought less of his job as a trumpet player. Maria's life seemed so peaceful with a sucessful husband and a cute little daughter.
Therefore, it hurt when they knew Larry's wife was having an affair with Maria's husband. In order to punish their partners, Larry and Maria pretend to go out together but still kept their relationship innocent. Instead, the make-believe lovers found themselves fell hard in love with each other.
