| Review Summary and Plot Commentary about Ride the High Country |
RIDE THE HIGH COUNTRY was directed by Sam Peckinpah in 2002.
Steve Judd is an aging ex-marshall who's just accepted the job to transport gold from a remote mining camp to the nearest bank. He's accompanied by his longtime friend Gil Westrum and by Heck Longtree, Gil's young partner. On their way to the mining camp, they stop at Joshua Knudsen's farm and meet there Joshua's daughter Kate who dreams of leaving the farm and marrying the miner Billy Hammond.
Kate decides to follow Judd and his friends and, soon, Heck Longtree flirts with her during the rest of the journey. Once in the camp, Kate marries Billy Hammond on the same night but is soon disgusted by the behaviour of her new husband and his four brothers. Steve Judd reluctantly accepts to bring her back to her father but, on their way back, has to face soon his own friend Gil who wants to keep the gold for himself and, above all, the Hammond brothers who want to recover Kate and, to do so, attack the small group on several occasions.
