| Review Summary and Plot Commentary about The Night Evelyn Came Out of the Grave |
THE NIGHT EVELYN CAME OUT OF THE GRAVE (La Notte che Evelyn uscě dalla tomba) was co-written and directed by the Italian filmmaker Emilio Miraglia in 1971.
Since the death of her wife Evelyn, Lord Alan Cunningham lives alone in his tumbledown castle. He regularly invites home red-haired women -Evelyn's hair was red- and forces them to endure sadistic sexual games inspired by the souvenir of the discovery of his wife's infidelity, made a few months before her death. His friend, psychiatrist Richard Timberlane worries about Cunningham's mental health while Farley, the domain's steward, uses to ask him more and more money to buy his silence.
One day, Cunningham meets the beautiful Gladys, falls for her and marries her. But the young woman's secret plan is to make certain that Lord Alan Cunningham becomes soon completely mad so that his younger brother Albert, Gladys's lover, could be in charge of the Cunningham family's fortune. Now she has just taken out Evelyn's corpse from the family crypt, hoping that Lord Cunningham's mind won't resist the idea that his wife could come back from the dead.
