Review Summary and Plot Commentary about Far and Away
A rich Irish girl comes to America for the Oklahoma land rush.
On the boat she meets a man who agrees to help her get to Boston.
In Boston, the girl is robbed. The man stays with her to help her, posing as her brother.
She makes money working in a factory and he makes money boxing.
After losing a fight, the man and girl are tossed out on the street with nothing. They break into a house to warm up. The family comes home and the girl is shot as they run away.
The man takes the girl to her family, who'd come from Ireland to find her. The man leaves and goes his seperate way.
The man works for a railroad before joining a wagon train to Okla. He joins the land rush.
He meets up with the Irish girl and her fiance.
They all want the same piece of land. They arrive at the land at the same time and after a struggle, the man gets the land first. However, the fiance goes after him again and the man hits his head on a rock.
The girl chooses to stay with the man instead of her fiance. The man dies from the head injury, but when he hears the girl say she loves him his eyes open and comes back to life.
