| Review Summary and Plot Commentary about A Good Woman |
Based on Oscar Wilde's "Lady Windermere's Fan", A GOOD WOMAN was directed by Mike Barker in 2004.
Mrs. Erlynne is a seductress who must leave New York hastily. She decides to go to Amalfi, Italy with the intention of relying on her charms and seduce wealthy people. She read in the newspapers that the Windermere couple is spending the summer season there and she soon finds an opportunity to meet Robert Windermere. A few days later, it's the talk of the town : Robert Windermere is cheating on his wife with Mrs. Erlynne.
Lord Darlington, a womanizer and a friend of the Windermeres, would like Meg to learn the behaviour of her husband and, then, takes comfort with him. In addition, a rich English Lord falls in love with Mrs. Erlynne and, making fun of the general opinion, wants her to marry him. But, in reality, if Robert Windermere is so often visiting Mrs. Erlynne, it's not for pleasure. She is in fact the mother of his wife's Meg and is asking him for money so that she doesn't have to tell the truth to Meg Windermere.
