Review Summary and Plot Commentary about Breathless
When small-time crook Jesse Lujack (Richard Gere) needs to get out of Vegas in a hurry, he steals a Porsche and heads for L.A., intending to meet up with Monica Poiccard (Valerie Kaprisky), a French exchange student he spent several days with on the Strip. On the way, he is pulled over for reckless driving and shoots and kills a highway patrolman (Jack Leustig).

Upon arrival, Jesse makes himelf at home in Monica's apartment, without asking, then disrupts her college exam. Although she at first rebuffs him, his relentlessness and raw sexual charisma eventually gets to her, and she allows herself to be seduced.

When Valerie reveals that she may be pregnant, and subsequently discovers that her new beau is the subject of a massive manhunt, Jesse robs a stolen-car dealer and the two make one, last dash for freedom in Mexico.
