The main story of this movie is about Mona Hibbard (Minnie Driver) a poor girl from a small town with a dream of becoming Miss America; she works her way up through a variety of obstacles. Filming location is Los Angeles, California, USA and the movie is rated PG-13 for language and thematic elements.
Mona (Minnie Driver) plays a character of a single mom and a beauty pageant contestant with a tough heart. Mona tries to keep her past a secret that she has a daughter, she even hides her relationship a secret from her own illegitimate daughter Vanessa.
Mona has a best friend from childhood Ruby. Ruby is willing to help Mona pursue her ambition. Ruby even helps Mona to hide the secret of Vanessa, Ruby and Mona told Vanessa that she is Ruby's daughter but as she grows up she start questioning Mona that why does she looks so much like Mona if Ruby is her mother and eventually she finds out the truth. Mona during quest for the tiara, in the moment of truth, she comes to teary terms with her situation and finds a friend in her daughter Vanessa.
