Crank is a movie about a hit man called Chev Chelios played by Jason Statham from "The Transporter". Chev has a pretty girlfriend named Eve (Amy Smart). Eve wants him to give up his dangerous profession. Chev also want to give up on his dangerous profession and start a family life with Eve.

This is a fast speed motion picture involving thugs and contract killers. The main guy is Chev Chelios (Jason Statham) who is a freelance hit man at the west coast syndicate. Chev has a girlfriend named Eve (Amy Smart) who is oblivious to Chev's profession. Chev loves her and wants to give up his dangerous vocation so that he can start a new life with her.
At the job that he had to do the night before, he lets his target slip away and then the next morning he is waken up by the voice of a gangster named Ricky Verona and that is where the crazy, swirling movie begins from.
Chev finds himself weak and barely alive while a DVD left by Ricky reveals to him that he had been poisoned in his sleep and now has only one hour to live. But as it turns out this is some weird kind of poison that can be slowed down if he can keep his adrenaline level high. This means that he has a lot to, for all of which he has only one hour and he has to do it at full speed if he wants to stay alive.
In this one hour he has to find the guy who poisoned him, take revenge, try to save his own life by finding some antidote, fight off the bad guys who are after him, save his girlfriend from all kinds of dangers and say goodbye to her, just in case he doesn't make it.
So what should a person do to keep his adrenaline pumping if his life depends on it? My guess is that the fact that you have poison running in your blood stream should provide enough energy to keep a person in a do or die attitude but Chev finds a lot more ways to take care of his adrenaline level, for example, having sex, using cocaine and even defibrillator paddles and a shot of epinephrine from a hospital!
It's somewhat like the movie SPEED the only difference is that in that movie slowing down would have caused a bus to blow up and here it is a human heart!
Through out the movie Chev races around Los Angeles, crashing his car and smashing people.
Jason Statham's acting is as always a treat for movie goers. Amy Smart also plays a nice role.
The movie has some good action sequences and sets but halfway through the movie that's all there is left! The movie becomes a series of gory and grisly violence filled scenes and sort of loses the story line. At one point the Hero cuts off a guy's hand that was holding a gun. Later when he picks up the gun the hand is still attached to the gun and then it gets thrown at another guy! That is some crummy humor!
The movie has been rated R and is suitable only for viewers of 18 and above due to strong violence, pervasive language, sexuality, nudity and drug use. In the end it is a good action sequence for all of the Statham lovers.
