| Review Summary and Plot Commentary about Seven Seconds |
Jack Tuliver is a disgraced Delta Force Commander who has spent four years in a military prison. His lover, Suza, works at Vanderbrink, a high-security delivery service. Jack and Suza have gathered a gang to carry out a 20 million dollar heist on Vanderbrink trucks transporting casino cash. But things go wrong. The 7-second timer on a detonation device fails. One of the trucks contains two armed strangers, one with a locked case secured to his arm. Another gang overtakes the heist with their own, a machine-gun massacre, abducts Suza, and kills police and the entire gang except Spanky and Tuliver. Tuliver escapes with the mysterious case.
NATO military police sergeant Kelly Anders is in a coffee shop when she sees a gunman chasing Jack. She intervenes, only to become Tuliver's hostage as he hijacks her car. After a high-speed chase, he keeps the car but lets her go. She wonders why he didn't kill her. So do the police, who mistakenly believe Jack killed a cop, and suspect that Anders is his cohort. Anders doubts that Tuliver is a killer. He saved her life. Looking through mug shots, she identifies him secretly, and calls her own cell phone, left with him in her car. She tells him she is possibly the only person who does not want him dead. She wants to know who the other gang is. He doesn't know. She stays in touch, but neither fully trusts the other.
Jack stashes the case in a locker at a bus station. The police are not the only ones looking for him. Mr. Graphini of the Van Gogh gallery orders his goons to find that case, saying it contains a newly discovered Van Gogh worth 65 million dollars. Then there is Alexsie, who supplies art for Graphini's gallery, and who profits from criminal activities. Alexsie's goons abduct Spanky for questioning. In fear of Alexsie, Tuliver's "friend," nightclub owner Mikhail, delivers Jack to Alexie's house, where Suza and Spanky are being held. Alexie's men torture Tuliver for the location of the case. When they threaten to burn Suza, Tuliver cracks. He leads two of the goons to the locker at the station, but before they can open it, induces them to argue with each other, beats them up, and escapes.
Meanwhile, Anders' investigations lead her to Alexie, and to the liklihood that the painting is a fake, falsely authenticated and destined to disappear for insurance fraud. Separately, Tuliver and Anders drive to Alexie's house, where they reluctantly team up. Jack is determined to rescue his friends. Dodging bullets and bad guys, he and Anders come face to face with Alexsie, and Tuliver learns that he has been betrayed again, by another "friend." At gunpoint, he must devise a final escape.
