| Review Summary and Plot Commentary about Dennis the Menace |
In a quiet suburban town, everyday a bike attached to a little red wagon completed with several cans trailing behind with its strings attached, passes by perfect little houses in the neighborhood. Everyone knows the little tyke that makes the rattling noise with his dog Rusty by his side. His bike stop on track in front of his neighbor's house while he screams "Mr. Wilson!" This blonde kid is Dennis Mitchell. On the surface, five years old Dennis looks adorable enough that anyone's grandma would pinch him on the cheek and calls him their little sugar pie. But looks can be decieving as Mitchell gets on the very last nerve on Mr. Wilsons's the little boy's grumpy old neighbor.
Alice and Henry Mitchell, Dennis' parents is going out of town and asking neighbors around the block to babysit their son. To their dismay everyone refuses to do so. So Mom and Dad only hope is asking the favor of the Wilson's to take care of Dennis. Mrs. Martha Wilson a nice gentle woman hapily agreed while Mr. WIlson is not too keen living under the same roof as Dennis. Little Dennis enjoys spending time with his startling Wilson, but his antic says otherwsise though he means no harm. One time assuming he was sick, while Mr. Wilson is asleep, he shoots asprin in Mr. Wilsons' mouth at night with his slingshot. There were also another one incident where Mitchell switched up Wilson's medicine and filling it up with nasal spray and toilet cleanser. Or when Wilson's won first place in a important gardening event, Wilson wanted to look his best. But Dennis carelessly broken Wilson's two front (false) teeth and replaced it with Chiclets.
Poor Mr. Wilson didn't realize that his most embarassing moment was taking a picture with two big front teeth that made him look like a human version of Bugs Bunny.
Eventually Mr. Wilson is fed up and angrily tells Dennis he no longer wants to be in the kid's presence. This scares and saddens Dennis enough to run away and bump into one mean villian of the town Switchblade Sam. Switchblade is a known robber and for many children is downright scary but with an encounter with Dennis will be like no other.
