| Review Summary and Plot Commentary about The Housekeeper |
This movie (Une femme de ménage) was written, produced and directed by Claude Berri in 2002.
Jacques, 50 years old, lives alone in his apartment in Paris. His wife left him 6 months before and he starts only now to recover. One day, Jacques decides to hire a housekeeper and so makes the acquaintance of Laura, an attractive 20 years old girl. In spite of their difference of age and background, Jacques and Laura get along well and soon they have sex together. When his wife starts to harrass him and to try to bring together their relation, Jacques decides to take a two weeks holiday and to go to the Atlantic coast with Laura. At first, the couple spends each minute of the day together but after a few days, Laura starts to be interested in the young people of her age she meets at the beach.
