This 1950's gang movie, directed by Scott Kalvert, takes place in the dysfunctional streets of Brooklyn, New York. Two brothers, Leon (Stephen Dorff) and Bobby (Brad Renfro) are members of the street gang that call themselves the deuces. Their younger brother was killed by a drug overdose a few years back and eversince have been determined to keep drugs off their streets.
The more violent, ruthless gang opposite them are known as the vipers and are a possible threat to Leon and Bobby's efforts. The leader of the viper's gang, Marco, has just been released from prison and is looking for renvenge. He assumes that it was Leon that ratted him out to the cops and is determined to pay him back for it.
From the moment Marco was released a bloody, cruel war erupted on their streets between the deuces and the vipers. As Leon must watch his back, he and his gang do whatever it takes to keep their streets clean of drugs.
