| Review Summary and Plot Commentary about Dinner Rush |
Directed by Bob Giraldi in 2000. The action of the film takes place almost exclusively in the popular Italian restaurant belonging to Louis Cropa whose partner, Enrico Coventie, has just been assassinated by Carmen and Paolo, two mobsters from the Queens, who wanted to force him to sell his shares in the restaurant. Louis Cropa has two sons. Udo who's a talented chef managing his team of cooks with an iron hand. Duncan, the second son, assistant manager in the kitchen, is a compulsive gambler who owes already close to $7000 to Carmen and Paolo.
This evening, the dining room is already crowded and the customers are queuing up for the second service. The cooks and Udo Cropa are under strain because they've just learned that an influential gastronomic critic has just arrived unexpectedly. Carmen and Paolo have also just arrived in order to discuss with Louis Cropa and to try to recover the money that Duncan owes them. During the three following hours, Louis Cropa will have to find a way to save the life of his son Duncan and to convince Carmen and Paolo to give up their interest for his restaurant while avoiding a scandal which could break down Udo's professional career.
