| Review Summary and Plot Commentary about Seven Swords |
This movie (Chat gim) was directed by Hark Tsui in 2004 and earned 11 nominations for the 2006 Hong Kong Film Awards.
The emperor of China has just decided to prohibit the practice of the martial arts in the Empire. Prince Dokado has hired General Fire-Wind and his army to help execute the new law. Dokado pays a bounty for every man killed by Fire-Wind. Soon, the soldiers of Fire-Wind slaughter the inhabitants, women and children included, of all the surrounding villages even if no weapon is found.
Two inhabitants of Martial Village, the last village before the border, decide to go find Master Shadow-Glow, who's taken refuge at the top of a mountain, and ask him for assistance. The Master agrees to send five disciples to help the inhabitants of the village. To each one of them, he gives a sword with peculiar properties. Two other swords are also entrusted to the two peasants. Back to the village, the seven swordsmen will fight against Fire-Wind and his men and will even attack their camp by surprise. But soon, considering the number of the soldiers, the swordsmen evacuate the village whose inhabitants hide in a cave ignoring that a traitor is among them.
