| Review Summary and Plot Commentary about The Garbage Pail Kids Movie |
Young Dodger is a kid who has the problem of constantly being harassed by groups of local bullies. But more problems are added he has a thing for one bully's girlfriend Tangerine. He makes moves on the girl but unfortuantely won't repsond to his affections. Anyhow, he isn't alone with his feelings of depsair as Dodger has someone to turn to- a good friend is employer Captain Manzini; an owner of a antique store stored with variety of weird looking antiques. Manzini often preach about how society is equally divided between the pretty and not so pretty and how the "beauitful ones" has the most advantage.
Among his collections at the store, Manzin has a pail- a disgusting looking garbage can which he witholds several "creatures". Manzini strongly advises his employee not to open up the pail. Dodger abides by his warning; but Dodger's bullies comes along and the young boy is at odds with the bad boys again. A fight occured between Dodger and the punks and accidently knocks over the pail. Inside came out the "garbage pail kids"- Ali Gator, Windy Winston, Foul Phil, Messy Tessie, Nat Nerd, Valerie Vomit, and Greaser Greg; eyesore looking children yet adorable and lovable and have a great ability to create cool looking clothes. The children actually defends Dodger from getting trapped again in the bullies hands.
Now out of the can, the outgoing children is free to run in the city, regardless Manzini plead to not go out in the world, as people would not accept them. They do make friends at a local spot while Dodger finally manage to get Tangerine to find some interest in him. The two talk for awhile and Dodger learns of his potential love interest dream of becoming a fashion designer some day. This brings the naive Dodger hopes up and get a hold of the garbage pail gang and ask them to make clothes for Tangerine. Tangerine is just using Dodger to boost her chances at becoming a upcoming clothing designer but he does not realize this. To make matters worse, Tangerine finally finds out about the kids and her boyfriend and his bully friends taken the GPK to a home for the ugly.
