Review Summary and Plot Commentary about The Next Voice You Hear...
Directed by William A. Wellman in 1950. The Smiths are the all-american family par excellence. They live in Los Angeles and the father, Joe, works in an aircraft factory. His wife Mary will soon have a baby and their boy Johnny delivers newspapers each day at 6 a.m. in order to earn some extra dollars to buy a bicycle. Every morning, Joe begins his day completely stressed, must start up his car manually, brings his son to school and arrives late at his work. There, he must still bear his boss's warnings.

One evening, while listening his favorite show on the radio , Joe suddenly hears a voice which says: "It is God who speaks to you now". A little shaken, Joe and his wife think that the whole thing is a joke à la Orson Welles. The following day, all the newspapers speak about this event. The voice was heard in the whole world in all the languages. During seven days, this voice, which cannot be recorded, will be heard at 8.30 PM every evening. The listeners, mistrustful at first, will little by little get enthralled by this event and apply in their everyday life the message of peace brought by the voice.
