Review Summary and Plot Commentary about Die Hard
Bruce Willis plays a cop who risks his life battling dangerous criminals. The movie is filled with lots of shoot-em-up scenes, though some of them may be too violent.
--Teddy, Resident Scholar

John McClane (Bruce Willis) is visiting his wife for Christmas, when terrorists take over the building where her office party is being held. McClane is trapped inside the building but the terrorists don't know he is there and he must save his wife and the 40 other people being held hostage. But McClane is alone inside and his only friend is a cop named Al Powell who he communicates with via walkie-talkie.

Die Hard set a standard to which all subsequent action movies have aspired, but never achieved. It mixed exhilarating action sequences with nerve-wracking suspense and - unlike a lot of other action films - the characters had real feelings and there were some truly emotional scenes. It is without a doubt the greatest movie ever made.

--Josh Cluderay, Resident Scholar
