| Review Summary and Plot Commentary about The Replacements |
This film is based loosely on the 1987 NFL players' strike. Gene Hackman plays a coach who has to take over a team of replacement players after the regular ones go on strike. He faces some trying times, but he triumphs over them, and he grows closer to this special bunch as they stick together through thick and thin. Two notes about this: The 1987 Washington Redskins, on whom Hackman's team is based, won the Super Bowl, and the film itself was shot on the Baltimore Ravens' home field.

A washington football team's players go on strike so a group of "replacements" are sent to replace them before the players decide to come back to the team.

Keanu Reeves plays Shane Falco, a washed-up all American Quarterback given another chance when the league goes on strike. Put together with a bunch of morons who shouldn't ever be allowed on a football field, this "Team" will make you laugh harder than you could ever have thought possible. A great un-winding movie! And for chicks, there's a romantic twist that you'll love too!
