Review Summary and Plot Commentary about The Keeper
Dennis Hopper plays a cop gone bad. Asia Argento is a "dancer" in a club. The cop kidnaps the dancer, at first under the guise of a legitimate arrest. But instead he takes her home, where he has built a jail cell out of rebar in his basement. He imprisons her in this cell. She does not know why she is there, where she is, or how she can escape. He does not explain either, but plays head games with her. If she tries to fight back he threatens her. He plays a game with her in which she has to "earn points" and to guess "how many points" she has earned today. He gives her "gifts" when she is "worthy." She almost gets out of the house one time, but he pursues her and jails her again. And takes away her points. While she is trying to figure out how to trick him, he is trying to keep it all a secret from his fellow officers, who are investigating her disappearance. He makes up stories for where he was, etc. But eventually a lady friend visits the cop and discovers the girl. Now he has another loose end to tie up. Who will win? Will the girl get away? Will the cop get caught?
